February was not my month, even though I was born in February! I tried once again to get a Wyoming ID only to be told I can’t use more than one letter per sender (had 3 different letters from the state of Wyoming, that and I saw nothing on the ID letter requirements stating it needs to be from different senders). Ended up going back this month with my paperwork and letters plus my father and a letter addressed to him and he just had to sign some paperwork stating we lived at the same address and FINALLY got my Wyoming ID! Takes up to 6 weeks to get the card in the mail, but they did print out a temporary ID for me. We also managed to get some chicks from a local Bomgaars store, the lady working with the chicks was so darn nice she held 10 sapphire gem chicks for us as they only had 14 chicks in total left to buy. They got in 100 chicks on a Wednesday put them out for sale on Thursday at 10am by 11:40 14 was what was left. I will say though I really think small, in the middle of nowhere dying towns like mine need to rethink how they see chickens because quite frankly I’m sick to death of big city ideas in towns like mine! Specially when the cost of some items is so darn high! What next can’t have a garden in the back yard that’s large enough to feed you family in season with just enough to can and put a bit away for the winter?
My family plans on either buying a place on a couple of acres of land or if things go fantastically right buying some land, building 3 houses on it (one for my parents, one for my niece and one for my family) all as off grid as possible. Buy some goats and a few sheep, maybe a cow or 2 and more chickens. A acre or two for a orchard and a couple of beehives.
But I’m getting to far ahead of myself as we did have a set back with one of the chicks, plain and simple the poor thing was a case of failure to thrive no matter what I did including nutri drench, turning it’s food into a soft paste etc. we still have 9 healthy chicks though! I am going to start some garden seeds and see what I can do to put up a fence around a small garden, hopefully we can have a decent amount to at least use during late spring through to early fall. I seem to just be rambling on now, so I’ll call this a wrap on this post now and hopefully something more interesting will come up to post about. Until take care and thank you for reading my rambling.
