My Simple Wyoming Life

My favourite time to shop the clearance sections at stores is after Christmas as I find quite a lot of houseware/kitchen/cookware heavily discounted, so with money a little tighter now I can’t wait til after Christmas in hopes to find a few new cookware or bakeware items! However so far I have found quite a few toys on clearance and even a cute squishimals or squishamellows (one of them) charm bracelet for only $2! Now I’ll admit not everything I have bought for my children’s holiday gifts is on clearance, like the 2 minecraft lego sets for my daughter but then again I bought both off amazon and one I have not seen even in walmart and the other one is $19.98 at walmart vs $15.99 on amazon! and because of clearance sections and the few items being cheaper on amazon I have my daughter pretty much sorted for gifts, but I do plan on going to our local goodwill and finding a couple of books for her to go with the toys heck maybe I can find a few books for myself! Now getting things for my son is a little harder as he is autistic and he only likes certain types of toys and it seems this year those types of toys are not really making it to the clearance section at stores or at least the ones I can get to, so the hunt is still on going for him for gifts.

I am also planning our garden for next year and buying some new seeds including asparagus seeds that will be a 3 year long wait but there is a couple of people in the family that likes asparagus so fingers crossed for that to go well. I am thinking of growning potatoes but not sure on the type, plus next July/Aug I want to get garlic to plant for the following year so that one is a future plan. I am aiming to plant carrots, rutabaga, cabbage, beets (a type that could also be turned into sugar), and a few drying bean varities, I am also thinking of growing a couple of squash varities. We are already taking once again about getting a large polytunnel to help extend our growing season even by a couple of weeks would be great! My husband is visting us in Dec as he is still doing work on our house in the UK and said he will build me a couple of cold frames for next growing season.

I have read recently that a few brands of eggs have been recalled and there is culling going on with chickens, so prices for eggs and chicken will once again be going up. I am thankful I have a few hens for eggs now more then ever if even a small bit of that is true! I’ll admit I am still unhappy about the towns “laws” around poultry keeping specially when the town is pretty much dead and being left open to drug crime due to lack of police because of the towns “budget cuts” or so rumor has it. Yes we are still looking for land outside of the town I can’t wait to get out of the town with everything that is going on and the rumors that I am hearing. I am also still looking into homeschooling I still have no idea where to start or what is best so I have gone to a forum and asked there, because it seems things have not improved with the bully at my daughters school and I refuse to let my daughter deal with it much more now at this point, which is sad because the school does not have many kids to start with not to mention there is like 3 or 4 towns that have their kids bused to this school. So hopefully we can get either the school to get the bullying under control til the end of the school year or I can find a good homeschooling plan if you will and get her moved onto that by Jan of this coming year.
