My Simple Wyoming Life

I am currently typing this on my old chromebook because the laptop I was using slid off a chair (I have zero clue how!), and landed on the power plug, and that has broken off inside the laptop.  Previous to that it had started to randomly turn off, not save documents, run horribly slow, turn the screen off when it was set not to, and would randomly freeze. Not great because I was planning on taking it with me to college to do my course work. However since I have gone back to using the chromebook I find it easier to do what I want thus far with it I have also been given a year of basic google one that increases my storage for google drive, gmail etc. Which will be great so I can back up stuff on google drive, as nothing backed up via my Microsoft account with the laptop when it was supposed to so everything is gone on that laptop.

After checking around it looks like I can easily use a chromebook for my college program as it is more hands on, so I am looking at chromebooks as I think using one is easier specially because my smart phone runs google so I can save and access stuff between my phone and the chromebook, which is helpful for me right now. Not to mention the chromebook will be light enough to carry around all day 4 days a week for an entire academic year and from my understanding I can get away with using a chromebook as the college has computers that students can use if their own laptops/chromebooks can’t do whatever it is.

I am waiting on my housing assignment to see if I will be in a single room or if I will have a roommate(s), but fantastic news is after grants and scholarships I will not have to pay anything to go to my equine management program. I feel incredibly blessed that I will be able to attend this program at the college and not have to worry about how I will be able to pay, take out loans etc, I am really excited to have this opportunity to learn about something I am really interested in and something I believe will help my family and myself once we hopefully get land and start building our own little farm.

I do have updates on the goslings I managed to hatch 5 this year and not only did I re-home them with one of my lovely neighbors who has a little ranch but I also re-homed the parents with her as well, they are doing great, she loves them to bits and they are working out great as part of an alert system for them, and I am thrilled everything is going well for the geese/goslings and for my neighbor. It did not take me too long to replace the geese though, I was at our local Bomgaars and they were marking the ducklings down. The main lady that does the markdowns on the live poultry saw me looking and literally arguing with myself on why or why not to get them and she said she would sell them to me for $3 each so I got 4. I also am currently trying to hatch some duck eggs for the neighbor whom I rehomed all my geese with, so far one has hatched I am hoping more will hatch as I just have one lone baby that I am trying to love on as much as possible because I feel bad no more have hatched yet.

I am getting tired of making my own bread currently and I think that is because we go through quite a bit of bread right now, so I will admit I have bought a few loaves from Saratoga’s little store called Valley Foods, I actually really like the little store. They do have some good deals, their beef is a little more pricey but it is worth the money as it’s prime choice and it looks way better than the bigger grocery stores beef that is currently being sold as of late.

Oh I almost forgot! I did go to our local tractor supply and picked up a bunch of plants for under $3 and some for only $1 I have two fig plants,2 types of raspberries, blackberries, goji berry, aronia berry, nanking cherry, 8lbs of purple potatoes, 8 asparagus roots, a blueberry plant, and a few others I can’t remember off the top of my head. I can’t wait til we are able to harvest these plants in the future! Until my next post, have a great day, week, and month.
